Support for Mothers

Mother and child playing

Mothering is awe inspiring.  It’s astonishing and unconditional.  It is energy, a non-stop flow of stimulus, input and output – shockingly exhausting, yet full of pride.  Mothering is also monotonous, scary, and downright depleting.  To be a mother means you welcome it all, day in and day out, providing to your children exactly what is needed despite your own inner conflicts, mounting responsibilities, and fatigue.

One of the greatest gifts you can give your child, is your well cared for, balanced, and individuated self.

Perhaps you’re preparing to or have just welcomed your first child into this world and feel anxious, sad, completely overwhelmed or alone.  Maybe you were not mothered well and now feel daunted by the notion of mothering your own child, gripped by fear of repeating the shortcomings of your own mother.  Perhaps mothering your children when they were young came easy to you, but now, with an adolescent or young adult ready to launch into adulthood, you feel ill equipped to prepare them for the future or are struggling to let them go out into the world.  Perhaps this is triggering a significant amount of anxiety for you.  No matter what stage of the mothering journey you may find yourself, I welcome you.

My office is a safe, peaceful, and restorative place for mothers.  Together, we work to tend to whatever it is you’re needing during our session – to voice a concern, describe an experience, share the painful parts of being a mother, be heard, find a solution, or re-energize through meditation, symbolic work, or artistic expression.

One of the greatest gifts you can give your child, is your well -tended, balanced, and individuated self.  I welcome the opportunity to walk alongside you in this journey.

For a free 15-minute phone consultation to gain clarity on whether you, your child, or your family may benefit from counseling, feel free to contact me at 443-340-0505.  During our call, I will strive to offer preliminary answers to your most pressing questions and talk about the next steps.

Giving grace to yourself is never more important than when you become a mother
